Read a row
What a scanner row actually tells you.
Every column is a decision input. Here's how to read one.
Sample row (illustrative — not a recommendation)
NVDA · Aug 27 · EMS 8.4* · Maevol Ratio 0.84× · Earn IV rise +92pp · LongStraddle · Maevol Score 82
EMS — Expected Move Size
How big a move this earnings announcement is expected to make, from the median move across past earnings announcements. Under 3% is rarely worth the options friction; over 8% is high conviction, so size smaller.
Maevol Ratio
The move the market is pricing, divided by the move the stock actually tends to make. Below 1× the options look cheap; above 1×, rich. This is the vol-edge column.
Earn IV rise
How much the earnings-week option chain's IV has historically expanded in the 2 weeks before earnings, based on the last 8 prints. The anticipation, quantified — where the front-chain premium reliably fattens up.
Top strategy
The highest-scoring rule-based setup for this event. A hypothesis, not an order.
Maevol Score
A 0–100 read on how strong the historical case is. See the bands below.
The Maevol Score
The Maevol Score is conviction, not a crystal ball.
A 0–100 index of pattern strength — not the probability of profit. The same setup can score 60 on one ticker and 90 on another with more history.
Under 60
Skip. The historical case is weak.
60–69
Qualified. Cross-check coverage and IV before you act.
70–89
The sweet spot. Real trades live here.
90+
Rare. A strong historical case, still not a certainty.
Sort the week by the Maevol Ratio. The vol edge sorts itself to the top.
Below 1×, the market is pricing less than the stock's typical move — where long-volatility setups cluster. Above 1×, it's pricing more — the short-vol side. One sort, and the week's edge is in front of you.
What it will not do
What it will not do.
The limits are the point. A tool that claims to do these would be lying.
- Predict the earnings announcement. Nothing can. Scores are conditional probability, not certainty.
- Size your position. That's your risk decision, and it stays yours.
- Structure the option leg. It names the setup; you pick the strikes and expiry.
- Text you "buy now." You get the read. You make the call.
The free preview shows you it's real. Insider shows you the whole board.

FAQ
Straight answers.
Can't I just build this in a spreadsheet?
You already have. This is that spreadsheet, run every night across every reporting name, sortable in seconds. It buys your hours back.
How are the scores and ratios calculated?
Every rule fires on a fixed, published threshold over the last 8 to 12 earnings announcements. No fitted parameters, no hindsight. Change a threshold, change the code.
How fresh are the numbers?
The scanner recomputes nightly around 04:00 UTC. Options quotes are delayed, so verify against your live broker before you trade.
Do the rankings tell me what to trade?
No. They rank historical setups by strength. You choose the trade, the structure and the size.
Research tool only. Scores describe historical pattern strength, not probability of profit. Options prices are delayed; verify against your live broker before placing any trade. Not investment advice. Past behavior does not guarantee future results.
